disconnecting
ah sometimes it’s just necessary to disconnect. it’s so easy to get caught up on the internet for hours. and if i’m going to make use of my time, i can’t just be passively reading about the overwhelming amounts of things that are going on….

inauguration stuff
i spent from sunday to wednesday out of the city. a friend of mine invited a few of us to go down to stay with her family in alexandria, virgina, and go to the inauguration. out of the ten people she invited, i was the only person to follow through. i’m going to be completely honest: i was shocked that no one else was moved enough to go. the only “inconveniences” would be a day...

day nine.
so day seven was totally the best, reminded me of why i love the cleanse so much… but i think that today will be my last day. the whole not eating thing is kind of monotonous. not to mention that i feel like a baby with my special water bottle with me at all times.

unfortunately the first two words that pop into my head about lahiri’s collection of short stories are: brilliant and heartbreaking, neither of which represent just how brilliant and heartbreaking her stories are. (i’m cringing. i promise to never use those two words again.)

skipping over the last few weeks
the last few weeks have mostly been work. people are starting to visit the city again, mostly tourists now that come to the restaurant, but at least people are coming. there was of course, westville (the restaurant)’s holiday party, and new years, both fun. i started the cleanse, the master cleanse on sunday. it’s been awhile since i’ve done the full ten days, a whole year...
